It's official. Legislation
consolidating central service agencies took effect on October 1, 2011. As a result:
- HR policy functions are now part State Human Resources, a division of the Office of Financial Management.
- HR services now fall under the new Department of Enterprise Services.
As of October 1, there is no Department of Personnel.

Department of Enterprise ServicesOperational support to agencies and back office functions have been consolidated into a new
Department of Enterprise Services (DES). HR services housed within DES include:
- Personnel/Payroll IT Systems & Centralized Payroll Processing (HRMS)
- Employee Assistance Program
- Small Agency HR Shared Service Center
- Training & Development Services
- Recruitment Assistance
- Statewide Layoff Lists and Support
- State Jobs Site (careers.wa.gov) and Central Job Seeker Support
This website will continue to serve as a central source of HR information for Washington state government. The name has been changed to reflect its role as the state's HR website.
