How Payroll Processing Days Are Determined
The information below is to help you understand how payroll days are determined from the starting point of the legislative mandated paydays.
-
Warrants must be in the mail two US Postal Service working days prior to payday (Saturdays are considered a working day for this purpose).
-
Warrants must be distributed to agencies one day prior to the above, or three days prior to payday.
-
In order to meet this deadline, warrants must be produced from the payroll cutoff processing that occurs on Day 3 (which is for corrections/adjustments).
The Department of Information Services requires warrant and earning statement files to be sent to them on Day 4. This allows for mail delivery to the agencies by the three days prior to payday.
-
Day 2 becomes the working day prior to Day 3
-
Day 1 becomes the working day prior to Day 2
